Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Vela Payments, Inc., a Delaware registered company headquartered in San Francisco, California ("Vela Payments," "Vento," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Vento service, visit our website at getvento.com, or communicate with us by message, email, or any other channel.

Vento is an AI operating partner for restaurant and beverage groups. It watches every store 24/7 across the systems your group already runs and brings the right person the decision, with the action attached, in time to act. Doing that well requires access to your business data, and we take that responsibility seriously.

By using Vento, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, work email, group name, and number of locations when you book a demo through our website or contact us.
  • Business details shared during onboarding, such as your locations, the systems you run, who is responsible for what, and how your team prefers to be reached.
  • Messages and questions you or your team send to Vento in any connected channel.

Information from connected systems:

When you authorize Vento to connect to the systems your group already runs, we access data from those services on your behalf. Depending on what you connect, this may include:

  • Point-of-sale systems (e.g., Toast, Square, Clover): sales transactions, revenue, voids and refunds, tips, and sales mix by store.
  • Scheduling and labor (e.g., 7shifts): schedules, time clock entries, labor hours, and labor cost.
  • Accounting (e.g., QuickBooks): invoices, expenses, and financial statements.
  • Reservations and delivery (e.g., OpenTable, DoorDash): covers, reservations, orders, and channel performance.
  • Any other system you choose to connect, with access scoped to what Vento needs to watch your stores. Connections are read-only unless you explicitly authorize otherwise.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type, browser type, IP address, and usage data when you visit our website. We use Vercel Analytics and PostHog for this; analytics events never include your name or email.
  • Message delivery and read status for the channels where Vento reaches your team.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Watch every store around the clock, learn what normal looks like for each one, and detect the moments that need a decision.
  • Deliver briefings and real-time alerts to the right person on your team, with the recommended action attached.
  • Answer the questions you and your team ask about your business.
  • Schedule and run demos, onboarding, and support.
  • Improve and personalize the Vento service.
  • Communicate with you about your account and service updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Messaging Communications

Vento lives in the channels your team already uses. When you opt in during onboarding, you and the teammates you designate consent to receive messages from us, including:

  • Morning briefings summarizing each store's performance.
  • Real-time alerts about events that need attention, such as labor running over plan, missing invoices, or a store drifting from its normal.
  • Responses to questions about your business data.
  • Onboarding, setup, and account messages.

Message frequency varies, typically one to three messages per day per recipient plus responses to your questions. Message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You can get help by replying HELP or emailing support@getvento.com.

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or messaging opt-in consent with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party services to operate Vento, including cloud hosting, messaging delivery, scheduling (e.g., Calendly for demo bookings), analytics (e.g., Vercel, PostHog), and AI processing. These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
  • With your consent: We may share information when you explicitly authorize us to do so.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Access to systems connected through OAuth is scoped to the minimum Vento needs and is read-only unless you explicitly authorize otherwise. We never store your credentials for connected systems.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you cancel your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal purposes. Demo requests are retained only as long as needed to follow up with you.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Disconnect any integrated system at any time.
  • Opt out of messaging by replying STOP.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@getvento.com.

8. Third-Party Services

Vento connects to third-party systems (Toast, Square, Clover, 7shifts, QuickBooks, OpenTable, DoorDash, and others) through their official APIs. Your use of those services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies.

9. Children's Privacy

Vento is a business tool designed for operators of restaurant and beverage groups. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and, where appropriate, by message or email. Your continued use of Vento after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
